  Alumni talk 1: How did I survive and thrive in a corporate world Arnab finished his graduation as the first student of this department in 2020. It was in the middle of the covid that he joined the masters degree programme in West Bengal State University. He did a good research on consumer behaviour and continued to study consumer behaviour related areas within anthropology. He developed particular skill sets to step in the corporate world and is now working with British Telecom.  Being someone from a humble background without much skillsets he developed himself to reach a position of operations in the corporate world and now he is aiming at an analytics jobs soon. We are very proud to host him as he delivered the first alumni talk to the department today, i.e., on 07.12.2023. আলো আঁধার আর পূজা স্নেহা উথ্থাশিনী (প্রথম সেমেস্টার, ২০২৩)  শ্যামপুকুর বস্তির রমেশ মাহাতোর মেয়েটার গায়ের রং কালো বলে, স্কুল কলেজের কত্ত ছেলে ক্যালী, কেলেন্দি বলে ডেকেছে! আজ দুমাস হলো, মেয়েটা বিডিও হয়ে এসেছে, শ্যামপুকুর ব্লকে। আজ তার নতুন কেনা দোতালা বাড়িটায় আলোর রোশনাই, দীপাবলি বলে কথা..... দত্ত বাবুর বড়ো মেয়েকে, বিয়ের আগের দিন পাত্রপক্ষ যখন জানালো মেয়ের গায়ের রং বেশ চাপা তাই তারা এ বিয়েতে রাজী নয়, দত্ত বাবুর মেয়েটা সেদিন একটুও কাঁদেনি! নিজের সাথে লড়ে সে আজ একটা নতুন বুটিক খুলেছে, এই দীপাবলিতে তার উদ্বোধন! রুবী হাসপাতালের হেড নার্স, সেফালী দিদিকে ওর বয়ফ্রেন্ড যখন দুবছর ব্যবহার করে বলেছিল, 'আয়নায় মুখখানা দেখেছো, কি করে ভাবলে আমি তোমায় বিয়ে করব!' সেদিন ঘোর দীপাবলীর সন্ধ্যেয় এক প্রগাঢ় অন্ধকার নেমে এসেছিল সেফালীদির জীবনে। আজ ইমারজেন্সী বিভাগে বাইক এক্সিডেন্টের ছেলেটা যখন যন্ত্রনায় কাতরাচ্ছে, মুখটা দেখে চিনতে পারল সেফালী দি! আজ চারিদিকে কতো আলোর রোশনাই... বনগা লোকালের ফাঁকা কমপার্টমেন্টে এমনি এক দীপাবলির রাতে ধর্ষিত হলো নৈহাটীর মেয়েটা, ছজন মিলে এলোপাথাড়ী ধর্ষন করেছিল মেয়েটাকে! সেদিন...

  Respect and Disrespect: Beyond The "Trophy' Controversy by Agnimitro Ghosh, Sem V, 2023 Night had descended in the thick forests of Kanha. Mathew Halbert, one of the chief officers of a Textile Factory under the East Indian Company had set up camp in one of the clearing in the forests. Earlier that day, arrangements had been made in the huge Neem tree located in the mysterious depths of the jungle, so that our gallant officer, armed with his beloved double barreled Black Powder Express c ould have a steady aim at the site where the bait goat had been situated strategically.   The unconquerable beast of the dark, the one who is feared by all, the terrible one, was to be conquered. Veni. Vidi.Vici. Locals had reported seeing the magnificent creature with the yellow coat adorned with long swathes of black.   Largest graveyard?   Mass murder in Palestine By Priyambda Samanta Roy (Sem 1, 2023) On 7 th October when we we re peacefully doing our morning rituals. Somewhere at one end of the world, 5,000 rockets were launched massacring more than 300 Israeli soldiers and 1,100 civilians over a period of about 8 hours . I am talking about the war between Israel and   Hamas -led  Palestinian   militant groups . By the end of October , more than 1,500 Israelis and more than 8,000 Palestinians had been killed , including more than 3,000 children , while over 230 Israelis and foreign nationals remained captured or  taken hostage . The Hamas attack began with  a barrage of rockets launched from the Gaza Strip against Israel, while some 3,000 Palestinian militants breached the  Gaza–Israel barrier , killing civilians  in over a dozen massacres setting fire to their homes, and attacking  Israel Defence Forces  (IDF)  military bas...

  Development Theories: Modernisation, Dependency and Postmodern   by  Semester V Based on class lectures and other materials students of Semester V has presented on the three major theories of development. Dr. Ariktam Chatterjee, faculty, and HoD, English was present during the session. The session was quite interactive and engaging.
