Care and suffocation

Image
Care and suffocation by  Ankita Majumder (Sem II, 2024) Sometimes this caring for someone can feel like suffocation. Sometimes this care, this strictness, this protective nature can feel like a rope around your neck. And it feels more like one so, when it comes from a manipulative, narcissistic person. This person would randomly start to argue about something, completely illogical and will then act to his family members that he didn’t just spoke words of vulgarity to them. This person would never admit his mistakes, and will give the blame on someone else’s shoulders. This person would forget to bring back something which his family told him to and then will yell that his family members are a bunch of liers and that they didn’t informed him about the thing from before. He would completely give his blame to his family. He would always get and have the bigger portion of food but then after every month’s grocery shopping will tell, oh no sorry, order his family membe...

Students' Presentation 5: Theories - Diffusionism, Evolutionism and Historical Particularism On 31.07.2024, a group of college students presented a detailed and engaging session on three key theoretical perspectives in anthropology: Evolutionism, Diffusionism, and Historical Particularism. The presentation began with an overview of Evolutionism , which posits that cultures develop through a series of stages, progressing from simple to complex societies. The students highlighted key figures such as Edward Tylor and Lewis Henry Morgan, discussing their contributions to early anthropological thought. Next, the focus shifted to Diffusionism , the theory that cultural traits spread from one society to another through contact. The presenters explored both unilinear and multilinear di...

The point of breaking down

Image
The point of breaking down by Ankita Majumder, Sem I, 2023 Every person has a limit of tolerance.  And when this limit is surpassed, it creates chaos. A chaos so destructive that the feelings of those who are hurt due to this chaos can never be mended.  And that’s exactly what he did. She was extremely sick today. He came and asked if she had made some food for him. To which she said that she is sick, how can she. He did said it’s okay but she noticed how his facial expressions changed. After that with that sickness in her body, she made him a chapathi and gave him some lentil soup to eat with it. He told her that he shouldn’t have asked her about food and started to blame her for not making four breads instead of two for him during breakfast. His reason being that If she had given him four breads to eat during breakfast then he wouldn’t have asked her about food right now. With that the husband and wife started quarreling amongst them. One thing lead go another which ...
